Joyce Hodge, founder of the Rhythm and Rhymes Music Studio has been teaching the Suzuki Method of Piano for twenty-three years in both Saskatoon and Regina.

Joyce was classically trained in piano through the University of Toronto, Royal Conservatory of Music, prior to studying the Suzuki Piano Method.

In a continued effort to bring the very best to her students, Joyce has completed Master classes with Dr. Haruto Kataoka, co-founder of the Suzuki Piano Method and has studied with the many Master teachers in North America, attending Suzuki Teacher Training Institutes and Workshops throughout the United States and Canada, most recently being involved with the Suzuki Early Childhood classes, studying in London, ON with Dorothy Jones, Past President of the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Dorothy was the first Canadian to set up a Suzuki Charter School under the mentorship of Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, founder of the Suzuki Method.

As a supporter of music education for children, Joyce has been involved for many years with the Saskatchewan Suzuki Piano Teachers Association and recently with the Regina Suzuki Parents Association. While in Saskatoon, Joyce assisted in coordinating several Suzuki Piano Institutes and Workshops, and has directed the Saskatoon Symphony Volunteer's Summer Orchestra Workshop for Children.

A mother of three and grandmother of seven, Joyce believes that the Suzuki Method of teaching music imparts to her students a life-long appreciation of music and a new and exciting method of learning.



SUZUKI EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC EDUCATOR

Lin Lui was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. After finishing high school, Lin studied at the Tokyo Electronic Music Conservatory and graduated from Takasaki Art Center College with a major in Electronic organ and a minor in Piano.

Lin taught piano and electronic organ in the Taipei Yamaha music school, in addition she taught at a private music school for several years.

When Lin came to Canada she studied at the University of Toronto, Royal Conservatory of Music. When living in Ottawa, Ontario, she taught Chinese in the Ottawa Chinese School, using a musical approach to the help the students learn the language

Since Lin became aware of the Suzuki Method Talent Education, she has taken teacher training courses with Master teacher Peggy Swingle and also from Nicole Elliot. Lin has her own Suzuki Piano Studio in her Home. In May of 2008, she completed Level 1 Early Childhood Music Training from Dorothy Jones in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Lin joined Rhythm and Rhymes Music Studio in the winter session 2008. She will again teach Early Childhood Music Classes this Fall.

Lin is the mother of two sons, with study music.



SUZUKI EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC EDUCATOR

Stela Popa was born and raised in Romania. She studied piano as a child, and attended a High School in Timisoara, Romania, that specialized in music. Stela attended University in Lasi, Romania, where she graduated with her degree in piano in 1973.

For ten years before moving to Canada, Stela taught piano at the high-school she had graduated from in Timisoara, Romania. In 1984, she moved to Regina were she taught piano at the Sisters of Our Lady of Mission Academy in Regina until the school closed down. While teaching at the Academy, Stela became aware of the Suzuki Method of Talent Education and took courses that allowed her to teach by the method that she believes is the best for children. Living by the principles of Dr. Suzuki, Stela took courses each summer to continue her Suzuki Method Pedagogy. Stela currently teaches Suzuki Piano at the Conservatory of Performing Arts in Regina.

This past May, Stela studied Level 1, Suzuki Early Childhood Music Education in Minneapolis with Dorothy Jones, co-founder of the Suzuki Early Childhood Music Pedagogy. Stela will join Rhythm and Rhymes Music Studio, teaching in the Suzuki Early Childhood Baby/ Toddler classes.

Stela is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of a wonderful little grandson.
